The Best Bluetooth Meat Thermometers

Here are the top Bluetooth meat thermometers for you to choose from:

1. MEATER Plus Thermometer

Best Overall

Specs

  • Range: 165 ft
  • No. of Probes: 1
  • Dual Probe Function: Yes
  • App Compatible: Yes

Great Range

One of the coolest things about this Bluetooth BBQ thermometer is that it gets pretty close to the wireless range that is claimed by the manufacturer. When I tested it out, I was able to sit in the next room, separated by a wall and still get the reading on the app without any drops in the connection.

So, if you would like the ability to move around while cooking or grilling, then this is the thermometer for you.

Dual Function

Another really great feature with this thermometer is that despite having just one probe, it can give you dual readings. So, you can check the internal temperature of the food as well as the ambient temperature at the same time.

I found the internal temp reading for this thermometer to be incredibly accurate. Due to this, you can absolutely base your cooking times or next moves based on the readings that you see here.

Unfortunately, the ambient readings weren’t as accurate.

MEATER Plus Thermometer

Truly Wireless Design

A lot of thermometers that claim to be wireless aren’t always quite so. In this case, though, this is a completely wireless thermometer. This means that you can leave the thermometer in the meat or food as it is cooking and be able to see the results on your phone screen.

The only complaint I have with this thermometer is that it runs down the batteries really quickly so you always have to have spare ones on hand.

Good App Design

I really like how user-friendly the app is. I was able to set alarms and countdowns. I was also given a reminder when the food got close to the desired temperature. The app also estimates the rate of cooking ahead of time so that you have a better idea of when it may be done.

Pros

  • Great range
  • Dual probe function
  • Accurate thermometer
  • Truly wireless
  • Use friendly app

Cons

  • Poor battery life

2. ThermoPro TP25 Bluetooth Thermometer

Runner Up

Specs

  • Range: 500 ft
  • No. of Probes: 4
  • Dual Probe Function: No
  • App Compatible: Yes

Good Connectivity

Now, I wasn’t sold when I saw the 500 foot range on this thermometer but I decided to test it out anyway. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that this thermometer lived up to its claims when it comes to wide open spaces. Expect the range to be shortened if there are walls in between the thermometer and your phone.

Good Accuracy

I also put this thermometer through a boiling water and cold water test and found that it was quite accurate. It was off by about a degree or so but this didn’t have any impact on the cooking process. I followed the thermometer and my food came out perfect each and every time.

Multiple Probes

Do you want to keep track of multiple cuts of meat or types of food at the same time? Then you are in luck! This is because this thermometer is equipped with four probes – three for the food and one ambient probe. This allows you to cook lots of food at once but still be able to keep an eye on it at all times.

Good App Features

Now, there are several features that I like about the app. I like that there are various preset temperatures for the meats. I also like that you can add high and lowest temperatures for the cooking chamber. And, there are also alarm notifications leading up to the meat almost being done.

However, my only complaint is that the app has to be left running in the background. If you accidentally close it then all of the information and alarms will be deleted.

Pros

  • Good connectivity
  • High accuracy
  • Multiple probe options
  • Good app features

Cons

  • App functionality is limited

3. No products found.

Best Dual Purpose Thermometer

Specs

  • Range: 328 ft
  • No. of Probes: 3
  • Dual Probe Function: No
  • App Compatible: Yes

Good Bluetooth Connection

I was really impressed at how easy it was to connect the thermometer to the app on the smartphone. I also like that the connection doesn’t drop as long as you are within the limits of the connection.

Now, my only complaint is that the connectivity range isn’t as great as what the manufacturer claims. You can move into the next room and continue to use the thermometer but cant get any further than that.

Dual Function

This is an entirely new category of Bluetooth thermometers and I have to say that I really like the design. This thermometer functions as an instant read thermometer if you want but also comes with two probes so that it can be used to measure the temperature of the food from a distance as well.

So, if you are looking for versatile Bluetooth BBQ thermometers, then this model should be at the top of your list. It makes it easier for you to cook a wider variety of food.

Inkbird Bluetooth Food Thermometer

Good Accuracy

I also quite like the accuracy on this Bluetooth thermometer. It was able to match a commercial thermometer quite well and was only off by a couple of degrees. I also really like the wide temperature range offered by this model. It doesn’t matter what you are cooking or how you are cooking it, you should be able to track the temperature without any issue.

Pros

  • Good Bluetooth connection
  • Dual purpose
  • Good accuracy

Cons

  • Smaller range than claimed

4. ThermoPro TP-25H2 Bluetooth Thermometer

Specs

  • Range: 500ft
  • No. of Probes: 2
  • Dual Probe Function: No
  • App Compatible: Yes

Good Bluetooth Features

The Bluetooth connectivity with this thermometer is pretty good. However, if you are inside a home or are separated from your grill or oven by walls, then the connection will not be as great. So, you should expect to experience different levels of connectivity at different locations.

On the upside, I do love the fact that the Bluetooth is equipped with an alarm for connectivity. So, if the connection is broken at any time at all, an alarm will ring out so that you know to move closer and reconnect your phone with the main unit.

High Accuracy

The accuracy with this thermometer is really good. I tested it with different cookers – an oven, a grill, and a smoker. I also tried it out alongside a commercial food thermometer. Each and every time, the thermometer was either on the money or only off by a degree or two. So, it is great for telling you when your food is done.

Great Display

One of things that I really like about this thermometer is the display of the primary unit. Not only is it a large screen but it is evenly split into two quadrants and the large numbers are displayed prominently. This makes it easy to see the temperature with just a glance at the display.

Good App

I have to say that the app is pretty good too. This is largely due to all the alarms that you can set on it. As an added bonus, these alarms are really loud and have to be manually turned off. This greatly reduces the risk of you overcooking your food.

Pros

  • Good Bluetooth features
  • High accuracy
  • Good display
  • Good app

Cons

  • Connection can get lost inside house

5. No products found.

Specs

  • Range: 150ft
  • No. of Probes: 4
  • Dual Probe Function: No
  • App Compatible: Yes

Good Bluetooth Connection

On the surface, the 150 foot range doesn’t seem all that impressive. However, unlike many other manufacturers this range isn’t all that exaggerated. Of course, if there are walls or doors in the way then there may be some limitations but for the most part I found the range to be quite good.

The only issue that I have with this thermometer is that the app isn’t great. Sometimes when it crashes, the information that you set up is erased.

Good Number of Probes

I also like the number of probes that are included with the main unit. This is great for being able to monitor the temperature of multiple cuts of meat or types of food at once. I also like that there is a specific thermometer to check the ambient grill temperature. This can actually be clipped to the grill grate to get a more accurate reading.

Inkbird IBT 4XS Bluetooth Thermometer

Great Display

One of the cool things about this thermometer is that the relatively large display. What’s more, only one temperature at a time is displayed on the screen. If you want to see the others, you simply tap on the screen until you get the one with the corresponding desired probe.

Good Battery Life

I have to say that the battery life on this thermometer is pretty impressive. Not only does it last a long time, but you can also charge it while it is being used. Due to this, you don’t have to worry about it dying in the middle of a cook.

Pros

  • Good Bluetooth connectivity
  • Great number of probes
  • Great display
  • Good battery lifespan

Cons

  • App can be a bit buggy

6. NutriChef PWIRBBQ80 Bluetooth Thermometer

Specs

  • Range: 400ft
  • No. of Probes: 2
  • Dual Probe Function: No
  • App Compatible: Yes

Good Range

I was pleasantly surprised to see that this thermometer was very close to the Bluetooth range that the manufacturer claimed. Of course, when there are walls and doors in between, this distance is shortened but I liked that I could walk around most of the house without the connection being disconnected.

My only complaint here is that the app is a bit simplistic. If you like to monitor and adjust every aspect of your cook, then you may be frustrated by the limitations of the app.

Good Accuracy

The good news is that the thermometer itself is really accurate. I tested it against another thermometer and found that it was within a couple of degrees within the accurate temperature. Due to this, you will have no trouble all types of meat to absolute perfection.

Suitable for Multiple Probes

Now, you only get two probes with this package. However, you do have the option to add up to six probes if you want. This is a great feature if you like to cook large quantities of food and want to keep track of everything all at once.

Affordable

Now, if you aren’t someone who cooks or grills that often, you may question the necessity of spending a lot of money on your thermometer. Well, with this model it isn’t necessary. It is actually really affordable but still durable enough to be used for a long time. So, it offers great value.

Pros

  • Good range
  • High accuracy
  • Suitable for multiple probes
  • Affordable

Cons

  • App is simplistic

7. No products found.

Specs

  • Range: 33ft
  • No. of Probes: 1
  • Dual Probe Function: Yes
  • App Compatible: Yes

Strong Connection

As you will see from the specs, the range of this Bluetooth thermometer isn’t great. This is because it is the original design of the MEATER Plus. Now, this does mean that you have to stay fairly close to your oven, grill, or smoker. However, the connection is strong and I didn’t notice any disconnection as I was using it.

Also, if you don’t grill or cook too frequently, this is a more affordable option to the MEATER Plus.

Great App

I actually really like the app for this thermometer. For one thing, there are plenty of features. This allows you to set the settings so that they are just the way that you like. In turn, this ensures that your cook goes seamlessly and that your food is cooked just right.

I also like the fact that the instructions on this app are guided. So, if you are new to cooking and grilling, it will you through the entire process step by step.

Original MEATER Bluetooth Thermometer

Completely Wireless

If you are someone who wants to do away with wires completely, then this is the thermometer for you. With this thermometer, you can close the door of your oven or grill completely and ensure that the etemperature inside the cooking chamber is maintained.

At the same time, you get a dual thermometer as the other end of this model can pick up the ambient temp.

Highly Accurate

The other nice thing about this probe is that it is very accurate. So, you can simply set the alarms and have peace of mind knowing that your food is cooking at the right rate. I tested this thermometer extensively and it gave me recurring, consistent results each time.

Pros

  • Strong connection
  • Great app
  • Completely wireless
  • Highly accurate

Cons

  • Limited range

8. No products found.

Specs

  • Range: 230ft
  • No. of Probes: 2
  • Dual Probe Function: No
  • App Compatible: Yes

Good Connectivity

The connection from the main unit to the smartphone is actually pretty good. I found that the connection was strong and didn’t break easily. I also found that I was able to move about quite a bit – it was only when I was a couple of walls away that the connection broke.

Good Alarms

I do have to admit that I am not the biggest fan of this app. This is because unlike with other thermometers, this one doesn’t have a designated app. Rather, you have to use a smart home app that has a section for the thermometer. This makes the app a little tricky to use.

That being said, I do appreciate the many different alarms that you can set with this thermometer. From the internal temp and the ambient temp to a lost connection, you can keep track of everything with the help of these persistent alarms.

Good Accuracy

The thermometer is also really accurate. I tested it out at different temperatures and with different kinds of food, all alongside another thermometer. The readings were pretty consistent and was never more than a couple of degrees from the right temperature.

Pros

  • Good range
  • Good alarms
  • Good accuracy

Cons

  • App is tricky

9. ThermoPro TempSpike Bluetooth Thermometer

Specs

  • Range: 500ft
  • No. of Probes: 1
  • Dual Probe Function: Yes
  • App Compatible: Yes

Good Range

As far as range and distance go, this has to be one of my favorite wireless thermometers. Now, it doesn’t stay connected quite up to 500 feet away. However, it does offer a pretty great range. As long as you are in a wide open space, you should be able to keep your phone quite a distance away from the thermometer.

Fully Wireless

I also like the fact that it is completely wireless. This means that there are no wires to deal with and in general there is just less hassle involved in using this thermometer. And, despite the fact that it is just one thermometer, it does have a dual sensor that allows you to keep track of the ambient temp.

ThermoPro TempSpike Bluetooth Thermometer

High Accuracy

The high accuracy of this thermometer is actually pretty impressive. I placed it in an ice bath and tried the hot water test. Also, when I was grilling food, I made sure to use it along with a commercial food thermometer. This thermometer passed with flying colors.

Excellent Settings

I have to say that I really like the settings of the app. You are able to preset things so that your cook goes exactly the way that you want to. You can also get an estimation of when your food will be done.

The only thing that I don’t really like about this thermometer is that the app layout isn’t great and this can make the readings tricky to understand at a glance.

Pros

  • Good range
  • Completely wireless
  • Good accuracy
  • Great settings

Cons

  • App layout isn’t great

10. Chef iQ Wireless Thermometer

Specs

  • Range: 200ft
  • No. of Probes: 1
  • Dual Probe Function: Yes
  • App Compatible: Yes

Good Range

When you look at the numbers, this range may not seem that impressive. However, once again, it is simply because the manufacturer hasn’t exaggerated about the capabilities of this thermometer. As long as you are in an open air environment, you can actually keep your phone quite far away from this probe.

Wireless Design

I like the fact this is a completely wireless design. This way, it is just a matter of turning on the thermometer and placing it in the food or cut of meat and you are good to go. There is no need to play around with wires or try to thread them through various spaces.

Accurate

This is a highly accurate thermometer to boot. If you are looking for something that is going to provide you with accurate and consistent readings, then this is definitely the model for you. I made a point to test this several times with different kinds of cookers and with different types of food too. It works well in all scenarios.

Great Design

One of the things that makes this thermometer stand out to me is that it has a really thin probe. This makes it ideal for when cooking smaller cuts of meat without tearing too much of the surface. This design also makes it easier for the probe to remain securely inside thinner cuts of food too.

Pros

  • Accurate range
  • Accurate temperature
  • Wireless design
  • Good probe design

Cons

  • Average range

11. BFOUR Bluetooth Thermometer

Specs

  • Range: 100 – 196ft
  • No. of Probes: 6
  • Dual Probe Function: No
  • App Compatible: Yes

Good Range

This is one of the few manufacturers that actually get close to the range that they claim on the packaging. When you are inside, you can move several rooms away. When you are outdoors, you can actually get pretty far away from the main unit without losing the connection.

My only complaint with this thermometer is that it doesn’t work so well with Android phones. You will face a few issues every now and then but this problem doesn’t crop up with iPhones.

Multiple Probes

If you are someone who likes to keep cook a lot of food at once and keep track of each type of food is cooking, then this is the thermometer for you. It actually comes with six probes so you will have no trouble keeping track of each dish at once.

BFOUR Bluetooth Thermometer

Good Display Layout

I really like the display unit of this thermometer. This is because it has a larger display and the numbers are also displayed in a larger format. To add to this, I like that there are only a few readings on the main unit, making it a breeze to check on the temperature.

Good Battery Lifespan

Another cool thing about this thermometer is that it does have a long battery lifespan. This means that you can use it for long cooks and for consecutive cooks without worrying that the battery is going to run out. It is also nice that can swap out the battery when needed without any issue either.

Pros

  • Good range
  • Numerous probes
  • Good display
  • Good battery lifespan

Cons

  • Not great for Android phones

12. No products found.

No products found.

Specs

  • Range: 230ft
  • No. of Probes: 2
  • Dual Probe Function: No
  • App Compatible: Yes

Good Connectivity

I really like the connectivity of this thermometer. Although it doesn’t go up to 200 feet when you are indoors, I found that I was able to move a fair distance away without the connection breaking.

One of the features that I really like is that an alarm goes off whenever you disconnect from the app so that you know when you need to move closer.

The main issue I have with this thermometer has to do with the fact that it can be tricky to sync with your phone sometimes. So, you often have to try a couple of times.

Good Display

I really like the display of this thermometer unit. For one thing, the display is large and is equally split for the two probes. As a result, the quadrants for each section are larger and you are able to see the numbers quite easily. This works well for those who aren’t used to such thermometers.

Easy to Use

One of the cool things about this thermometer is that it is so easy to use. From settings on the main nit to the settings on the app, it is a breeze to figure out. So even if this is the first time that you are using a Bluetooth models, you will be able to figure it out fairly easily.

Pros

  • Good connectivity
  • Good display
  • Easy to use

Cons

  • Some syncing issues

Specs

  • Range: 165ft
  • No. of Probes: 1
  • Dual Probe Function: No
  • App Compatible: Yes

Good Range

I like the range on this connection. When indoors, the range is less than what is stated but it still allows you to be pretty mobile and still keep track of the temperature. I also like the fact that the connection is strong and you are able to sync up to the app without any problem at all.

High Accuracy

For this price point, I was surprised that this wireless Bluetooth model could be so accurate. I tested it out using the boiling water and cold water test to see how well the thermometer was calibrated. I also used it to cook various foods alongside a commercial thermometer. I got accurate and consistent results each and every time.

My only complaint is that there isn’t a probe to check ambient temp so you need to use another thermometer to keep track of this.

UPMSX Smart Wireless Meat Thermometer

Quick Charging Feature

A real plus point for me with this thermometer has been how quick it is to recharge this battery. All it takes is several minutes and you will be able to use the thermometer for hours on end. This works well if you are someone who frequently forgets to charge their devices. This feature is also great for longer cooks when the temperature needs to e monitored for a greater period of time.

Pros

  • Good range
  • High accuracy
  • Quick charging

Cons

  • No ambient temp probe

How to Choose Bluetooth Thermometers?

Here are your top tips for choosing Bluetooth BBQ thermometers:

Wired vs. Completely Wireless Meat Thermometers

Now, I know this can seem like a bit of a strange point to you. After all, aren’t all Bluetooth thermometers, wireless? Well, not quite.

See, there are two types of Bluetooth thermometers. The first is one that is completely wireless. This kind of wireless thermometer looks like a digital pen and doesn’t come with any wires.

Instead, this kind of meat thermometer has dual probes. One at the tip takes the internal temperature and the other at the other end takes the ambient temp.

The great thing about these kinds of thermometers is that they allow you to fully close the oven or grill door, allowing you to maintain a better temperature inside the cooking chamber.

However, these kinds of thermometers also tend to be on the pricier side. Also, there is just one probe and if you like cooking lots of food at once, this will not do.

The second type of thermometer is the Bluetooth enabled thermometers. Here, the thermometers are equipped with wired probes. However, this links to a control unit that can be carried around with you.

In other instances, the primary unit can connect to a smartphone app.

The Bluetooth Range

The first thing that I want to tell you is that few wireless thermometers actually live up to the ranges claimed by the manufacturer. More often than not, these are off by tens or even hundreds of feet.

This is why it is important to read reviews for these thermometers beforehand. It is the only way to determine just how great the range is.

The other thing to consider is that these ranges tend to be for wide open spaces. So, if you have a home with an open layout or planning on using the thermometer outside with an outdoor grill, then you are fine.

However, when there are doors and walls involved, the range is limited quite a bit.

It is important to always test the range out ahead of time before you use the thermometer while you are cooking. This will make all the difference.

The Bluetooth Connection

Since you can’t always believe the hype about the range, you should make sure to pay attention to the connection strength instead.

This means that the connection between the main unit and the secondary unit or the connection between the main unit and the smartphone app.

Personally, I would look for a thermometer that has an alarm that rings out when you lose connectivity. This way, you will know when it is lost and move closer to the thermometer to reconnect.

Grilled Steak Striploin with Meat Thermometer

Phone Compatibility

This is something that a lot of people forget to check about but it is a really important element. Before you make a purchase, make sure to check whether the thermometer and its corresponding app have been designed to be more compatible with a certain operating system.

In some cases, certain thermometers and apps are better suited to iPhones and other Apple products.

I would also suggest checking out reviews to determine if the thermometer works just as well with Androids as it does with Apple, regardless of what the manufacturer claims.

Make sure that the version of your operating system is compatible with your app as well. All of this can help the syncing process to go more smoothly.

The Number of Probes

Another thing to think about is the number of probes. Now, most thermometers will have between two to four probes. However, you can find ones with up to six probes or even eight probes.

As you can imagine, the more probes that a thermometer has, the more expensive it is going to be. So, it is a good idea to actually think about how many of those probes you will realistically use.

You should keep in mind that for most of these thermometers that one of these probes will need to be relegated to checking the ambient temp so it is a good idea to get one more probe than you might need.

The Temperature Range

Each thermometer is able to withstand and record a certain temperature range. Make sure to check what this is beforehand.

For instance, if you want to keep the wireless meat thermometer in the oven or the grill for the entire cook, it is going to need to be able to withstand those temperatures while registering the proper temp as well.

The same goes for colder temperatures as well.

Accuracy

Once again, it can be tricky to know just how accurate Bluetooth thermometers or even instant read thermometers can be before buying them.

That being said, if you go for a well-known brand, there is a better chance of you getting an accurate temperature. Still, make sure that the thermometer has gone through the proper testing processes to be sure.

If you are buying an unknown brand or just want to guarantee accuracy, I would suggest getting a thermometer that you can calibrate yourself. This way, you can adjust it once you have bought it.

This also works because some thermometers can lose their accuracy bit by bit as time goes by. Being able to calibrate the thermometer as needed makes this a non-issue.

Another thing that I would suggest is testing your thermometer at home. Boil some water place the probe in the water and check if it registers the correct temperature.

Wait a while and then fill a bowl with cold water and add ice cubes to mix. Take the temperature again. This will let you know how well it works.

Grilled Steak with Bluetooth Thermometer

The Display

It is a good idea to examine the display of the main unit or whichever screen that you will be looking at to determine the internal temps.

Check how the information is arranged on the screen. Sometimes the readings are broken up into quadrants. In other cases, they are stacked below each other in list form.

Make sure that it is easy for you to read the information at a glance. Only the most important details appear, allowing you to make a snap decision about how to proceed.

If you require glasses or struggle with any vision impairments, then make certain that the screen and the numbers displayed are large enough for you to see.

You should also check for a backlit display to allow you to see in the dark or in low-lighting conditions.

The App Features

Yes, you should take a close look at what the app has to offer you as well. First and foremost, make sure that it is user friendly. After all, it doesn’t make too much sense to have a tricky app, particularly if there are a lot of changes or alterations you want to make to the cook.

Next up, check what features are available to you. Now, I would say that your top feature is being able to label or identify the probes.

Next up, should be setting alarms. You should be able to set one or more alarms just before the internal temp of our food hits the target temperature.

Also, see if you can set upper and lower limits for the ambient temperature. This way, you will be notified if the temperature inside the cooking chamber gets too low or too hot.

Battery Capabilities

Now, each type of thermometer has its own battery setup. There are some that come with a rechargeable battery while other designs come with disposable ones.

Now, you should figure out which setup works for you. Rechargeable options are more eco-friendly and they do save you money in the long run. However, they only work if you remember to charge the battery before it gets too low.

The rechargeable ones can get a bit pricey, especially if you use the thermometer often. On the upside, it is really easy to switch out one battery for another when you get low. You do have to remember to have a stock on hand, though.

As for the lifespan of each device, well the only way to find this out is to read the reviews beforehand.

However, I also advise people to test out how long their battery can last before any major cooks. This is especially important if you are someone who likes to do overnight cooking and needs the thermometer to keep track of the internal temp for longer periods of time.

Chicken with a Thermometer

The Storage Features

This relates to the base of the thermometer or the main unit. Now, you want the base or the main unit to be pretty close to the thermometer. This is especially important if you have wired probes.

Due to this, I would suggest looking for one that has a magnet on the back. This way, you can simply stick the base to the grill or oven as the thermometer is doing its work.

I found that this is also a nice way to simply store the thermometer when it is not in use, especially the completely wireless designs. I like to stick them on my refrigerator until I need to use them.

The Final Verdict

It is clear that the MEATER Plus is the top option for Bluetooth thermometers. It is completely wireless but has a great range. It is also accurate and despite being a single probe, has dual functionality.

Of course, I do advise checking out all the thermometers in this list. This is because they each have their own perks and features. So, you can never tell which one could be the perfect option for you!
